date [-s date time]
Parameter:
-s
Enables set mode.
Date
The date in mm-dd-yy.
Time
The time in hh:mm:ss.
Description:
Returns/sets the system time.
Notes:
The system time is polled from a NIST server. The best server is determined at boot time. If there
are no NIST servers available, or the shell is operating offline, then the time will be in seconds
since booting.
If the NIST server is offline, the time may be set via the
–s
parameter. If a date before 2000 is
desired, then use the full date.
Example:
$ date
Mon, Jan 1, 1970 12:00:00 am CDT
$ date –s 12-22-04 12:42:32
$ date
Wed, Dec 22, 2004 12:42:35 pm CDT
$

Description:
Returns the status of the Ethernet LAN hardware interfaces.
Example:
