OPERATION
18
When the switch is in the AC mode, Alternating Current is
present at the output terminals. If DC mode is selected Direct
Current is present at the output terminals.
When set to minimum, the AC wave form is made up largely of
DCEN and offers only minimum cleaning of aluminum. As the
cleaning control is moved toward 100%, the wave form changes
to increase time spent on DCEP. This results in aggressive scrub-
bing of aluminum. A unique and very valuable feature of the
GTSW is that current draw is not effected by how the cleaning
knob is set. Conventional square wave power supplies can
increase current draw as much as 50% or more if set to maximum
cleaning. They are rated in their literature with a balanced AC
wave.
(MOUNTED BEHIND DOOR ON FRONT PANEL)
When set at normal posistion the AC welding output frequency
is 60 Hz. The frequency can be adjusted from 20 to 100 Hz.
The LED meter displays either an amperage or voltage value.
The selected (preview) amperage value is displayed when
welding is not taking place.
The meter is not intended for exact amperage (CC) or voltage
measurements. The amperage display indicates amperage
output of the welding power source and is driven by circuitry on
control board PC1. The voltage sensing circuitry is internally
connected to the welding power source output terminals. The
voltage display indicates the voltage at the weld output termi-
nals, but does not necessarily indicate the actual voltage at the
welding arc (due to cable resistance, poor connections, etc.).
