OPERATION
Read and follow all safety precautions on page 22 and at the front
of this manual before proceeding with operation.
1. Install and connect unit according to section 2.
2. Select and obtain proper tungsten electrode (see table 3-B).
3. Prepare tungsten electrode according to section 3.5, insert into
torch.
4. Wear dry insulating gloves and clothing.
5. Connect work clamp to clean, bare metal at workpiece.
6. Place PROCESS SELECTOR switch in desired gas tungsten arc
welding position (see section 3).
7. Place OUTPUT CONTACTOR switch in desired position (see
section 3).
8. Select AC or DC operation (see section 3).
9. Place AMPERAGE CONTROL switch in desired position (see
section 3).
10. Rotate AMPERAGE CONTROL to desired position (see
section 3).
11. Rotate POSTFLOW TIME CONTROL to desired position (see
section 3).
12. Rotate PREFLOW TIME CONTROL to desired position (see
section 3).
13. Rotate HOT START CONTROL to desired position (see
section 3).
14. Turn on shielding gas and water supplies as applicable.
15. Wear welding helmet with proper filter lens according to
ANSI Z49.1.
16. Place power switch in on position.
17. Activate remote control device (foot control or remote pen-
dant).
With LIFT TIG, touch electrode to work and lift to start arc. With
HF TIG, high frequency will start followed by welding arc.
18. Begin welding.
