5.2 Termination of cables, when outdoor cables are spliced to pigtail cables outside
the FINNFLASH 1000 frame
Outdoor cables can be spliced to the pigtail cables outside of the FINNFLASH 1000 frame in a frame, rack,
splice cabinet or in a joint closure. Th
ese splices can be indoor or outdoor. If the splices are outdoor in a splice
cabinet or in a joint closure, the pigtail cables have to be brought to these splicing points in duct pipes, not
directly in the ground because the construction of the pigtail cables does not withstand the direct installation
in the ground.
5.2.1 Bringing the outdoor cables to the splicing point
• Bring the outdoor cables to the point (frame, rack, cabinet or closure) where the splicing will be
made.
• Measure the stripping lengths of the cables and cut away the extra lengths.
• Strip the cables and clean the fi bres.
• As terminating slotted core or central tube type cables protect the fi bres with the protection tubes of
the installation kits (accessory).
• Bring the fi bres to the splice trays.
• Make the appropriate markings on the splice tray.
• Fasten and earth the cables.
5.2.2 Installation of the patch panel
