Time Zone Offset
Use this setting to set the time zone offset for your location in reference to UTC in
the form
±HH:MM.
This setting allows you to enter a time zone correction of
up to ±23:59 hours.
However, the ST309 standard only implements codes for time zones in the range of
-
12 to +13 hours. Therefore, when you are using ST309 data as the Time of Day
source, it is recommended that the combined programmed offset from time zone
and Daylight Savings Time be restricted to the range of
-12 to +13 hours.
Note
:
When the Daylight Savings Time schedule is set to Once and the daylight
savings event occurs, the scheduled offset will be added to the time zone offset
and
the Daylight Savings Time schedule will be cleared. This allows for a new
schedule to be set up for any time in the future. (See
Daylight Savings Time
submenu
.)
NTP Server IP Address
When the time-
of
-
day reference is set to NTP Input, the IP addresses or fully
-
qualified hostnames (for example, “0.pool.ntp.org”) can be specified for one or two
remote NTP servers. If the SPG does not get a response from the first server, it will
use the second server.
Th
e time is set once, when the server address is selected; the NTP server is not
polled periodically. The time can be resynchronized at any time by selecting
the
Get Update NTP button, but this usually cause
s
synchronization shock in the SPG
outputs because the time of day is reset.
Note
:
If a hostname is used, the DNS server
must
be set for the management port
.
On the front panel
go to SYSTEM : NET SETUP : DNS SERVER ADDRESS
menu.
Note
:
The domain name is resolved every time the NTP client needs to make a new
request. This is especially useful when using NTP servers from the NTP Pool
Project (
), in which a set of server addresses change randomly each
hour.
