POWER-ON SEQUENCES AND
DEFAULT SETTINGS
Each time power is applied to the PFG 5105/5505,
the internal microprocessor per
f
orms a sel
f
-test diag
nostic routine to check the instrument RAM and ROM
f
unctionality. I
f
no RAM or ROM error is
f
ound, the
microprocessor per
f
orms
f
u
rt
her routines that check
the
f
unctionality o
f
other instrument hardware.
I
f
a RAM or ROM error is
f
ound, an error code will
be displayed on the
f
ront panel readout. In this error
state, the PFG 5105/5505 will not respond to input
f
rom the
f
ront panel or the IEEE-488 bus inter
f
ace.
Internal errors detected a
f
ter the RAM and ROM tests
have been completed success
f
ully will be repo
rt
ed at
the
f
ront panel and over the IEEE-488 bus. In this
error state, the PFG 5105/5505 will respond to input
and will attempt to operate despite the error. An error
code may be removed
f
rom the display be pressing
the
f
ront panel INST ID button, by sta
rt
ing a numeric
entry, by incrementing the selected parameter, by
pressing the CLEAR key, or by a transition into the
remote state (REMS).
When the sel
f
-test has been completed, the PFG
5105/5505 enters the local state (LOCS) and assumes
the
f
ollowing de
f
ault settings:
The SRQ line on the GPIB is also asse
rt
ed unless
the GPIB address is set to 31 (ignore GPIB com
mands). I
f
the instrument is polled by the controller,
the status byte returned will be 0100 0001 (65 decimal;
power-on SRQ).
