Interior
Loose dust accumulated on the outside of the instrument can
removed with a soft
cloth or small brush. The brush is particularly useful for dislodging dirt in and
around the side-shield ventilation hales and front-panel switches. Remove the side
shields before cleaning them.
Cleaning the interior of
instrument should seldom be necessary. The best way
clean the interior is to blow
the accumulated dust with
low-velocity air
as from a vacuum
Remove any din that remains with a soft brush or a
cloth dampened with a mild solution of detergent and water. A cotton-tipped swab
is
for cleaning in narrow
or for cleaning more delicate circuit
(refer to the topic Amplifier Hybrids, under Corrective Maintenance later in
this section, for more information on

Visual Inspection
The plug-in should be inspected occasionally for loosely-seated or heat-damaged
components. The corrective
for most visible
is obvious. However,
particular care must be
if heat-damaged parts are found. Overheating usually
indicates other problems in the instrument. Therefore, correcting the
of Over-
heating is important to prevent recurrence of the damage.
Periodic Electrical Adjustment
To ensure accurate measurements, check the electrical adjustment of this instrument
after each
hours of operation, or
24 months if used infrequently. In-
structions are given in Section 2, Checks and Adjustments.
