Choosing
a Location
Because of the sensitivity of TMA experiments,
it is important to choose a location for the
instrument using the following guidelines:
In
.
. . a temperature-controlled area.
.
. . a clean environment.
.
. . an area with ample working and
ventilation space around the instru-
ment. (Refer to the technical speci-
fications in Chapter 1 for the instru-
ments dimensions.)
On
.
. . a stable, heat and fire resistant,
vibration-free work surface.
Near
. .
. a power outlet (120 Vac, 50 or 60 Hz,
10 amps). A step up/down line trans-
former may be required if the unit is
operated from a higher or lower line
voltage.
.
. . your TA Instruments thermal analysis
controller.
.
. . sources of compressed lab air and
purge gas supply for use during
cooling and subambient experiments.
Away
from
. .
. dusty environments.
.
. . exposure to direct sunlight.
.
. . direct air drafts (fans, room air ducts).
.
. . poorly ventilated areas.
. . . flammable materials.
