Phase 1:
When you first use WiseUpdate, you:
1. Develop the installation
2. Configure WiseUpdate and
specify:
Location of updates on the
Web server
Current version of the
application
Your Computer
(FTP)
Phase 2:
The end user:
1. Obtains your application through normal distribution channels
2. Installs your application:
WiseUpdate Client is copied to the application directory
A shortcut to WiseUpdate client is placed on the destination computer
Destination Computer
3. Upload to the Web server:
WiseUpdate update file

When WiseUpdate Client is run on the destination computer, it:

Runs an upgrade wizard

Reads the WiseUpdate update file on the Web server

Determines that a new version exists

Displays the Readme
z
Downloads and runs new installation files
z
Updates the local version
