1D-24 Engine Mechanical:

5) If the camshaft journal oil clearance exceeds the

limit, measure the inside diameter of the camshaft
journal holder and the outside diameter of the
camshaft journal. Replace the camshaft or the
cylinder head depending upon which one exceeds
the specification.

Check that automatic decomp. cam (1) moves smoothly
and pin (2) rotates together. If any abnormal condition
are found, replace the camshaft.

Cam Chain Tension Adjuster Inspection

B705H11406047

The cam chain tension adjuster is maintained at the
proper tension by an automatically adjusted.

1) Remove the cam chain tension adjuster. Refer to

“Engine Top Side Disassembly (Page1D-16)”.

2) Unlock the ratchet mechanism (1) and move the

push rod (2) in place to see if it slides smoothly. If it
does not slide smoothly or the ratchet mechanism is
worn or damaged, replace the cam chain tension
adjuster with a new one.

3) Install the cam chain tension adjuster. Refer to

“Engine Top Side Assembly (Page1D-18)”.
