Open-loop and closed loop control
STULZ UltraSonic -System for duct humidification ENS 14 A - 18 A-
6.1.
Master/slave control cabinet for ultrasonic humidifier (USM/USS controller)
The USM controller is an open-loop and closed-loop control unit with inbuilt microprocessor for monitor
-
ing, operating and controlling an ultrasonic humidifier, and for actuating additional control units (USS) in
the same humidity control circuit.
The control panel includes a master switch for the power supply to the ultrasonic humidifier, fuses, and a
Siemens LOGO controller with display for setting and viewing current system values.
The display presents all the relevant data and factors as plain text and/or values. Alongside current hu
-
midity, here you can view the current humidifier capacity, operating state and specified alarm messages.
The reason for the alarm is displayed, which simplifies troubleshooting. In addition, the main alarms acti
-
vate a floating contact, which can be used for forwarding alarms to a central control center.
Types of control
The varied capability of the microprocessor allows different types of control to be used, which means that
control concepts can subsequently be modified without any major software or hardware changes.
●
Control via sensors:
The microprocessor records humidity and adjusts the ultrasonic humidifiers
proportionally. By modifying the parameter range, the humidifying system can be adapted to perfectly
suit requirements and ambient conditions.
●
Control via external control signal:
The microprocessor processes a signal from an external con
-
troller and uses it to adjust the ultrasonic humidifier proportionally.
●
Combination of humidity control and external control signal:
The microprocessor can process
the following signals for the input of the room air sensor or return air sensor, or an external control
signal:
•
0-10 V DC
•
0-1 V DC
•
optionally 4-20 mA with additional converter (optional control cabinet accessory)
In addition to the control inputs, the microprocessor features two inputs for remote ON/OFF actuation.
What's more, the microprocessor offers the option of actuating a solenoid valve with a supply voltage of
48 V AC. Flushing cycles can be set, so that not only is the water tank drained in the summer months,
but the pipes are flushed as well. This ensures maximum hygiene.
TVS (transient voltage suppression) diodes are switched parallel to the nebulizer print plates as protec
-
tion against overvoltage peaks.
The control units are fully wired and function tested at the factory.
