Error Explanation Action
The rotational speed is too low. Increase rotational speed.
The feed speed is too high. Reduce feed speed.
The cut-off wheel wears down too
quickly.
Insufficient cooling. Check that there is enough water in
the Recirculation Cooling Unit.
Check the cooling water hoses.
The rotational speed is too low. Increase rotational speed.
The cut-off wheel is too soft for the
task See Consumables section, ‘Cut-off
Wheels’.
Incorrect choice of cut-off wheel. See Consumables section, ‘Cut-off
Wheels’.
The cut-off wheel does not cut
through the workpiece.
Cut-off wheel worn. Replace the cut-off wheel.
The cut-off wheel gets caught in the
workpiece. Support the workpiece and clamp it
on both sides of the cut-off wheel so
that the cut stays open. The workpiece breaks when
clamped.
The workpiece is brittle. Place the workpiece between two
polystyrene plates.
Note! Always cut brittle workpieces
very carefully.
The sample has been left in the
cutting chamber for too long. Remove the sample directly after
cutting. Leave the protection guard
open when you leave the machine. The sample is corroded
Insufficient additive for cooling fluid. Use Struers Additive for cooling
fluid in the cooling water at the
correct concentration. Check with a
refractometer. See Maintenance
section.
