11 S-FX CASCADING
11.1 System setup
The S-FX boiler controller can control manage up to 6 boilers in a cascade (1 x master & 5 x slaves) setup.
An additional system temperature sensor is necessary to measure the cascade system supply temperature.
Make all electronical connections (terminal 1 to 30) on the master boiler such as any sensors, system pumps, heat
demand control. On the slave boilers, only connect the power supply and if required the relevant run / fault BMS
outputs:
-
Burner Running
– 300.
-
Burner Fault
– 301.
-
Remote Reset Input
– 302.
11.2 Boiler cascade communication setup.
In order for the system to work for cascade, the communication must be wired up between all boilers into the
relevant terminals
– 31 to 36.
Below example is of three S-FX boilers linked together:
-
Boiler A is the Master Boiler.
-
Boiler B is the Slave 1 Boiler.
-
Boiler C is the Slave 2 Boiler.
Once all the electronical wiring has taken place, turn on the electrical
supply to all S-FX boilers and allow them to go through there
de-aeration cycle.
Once this cycle is completed, the cascade communication setup will
be completed. Check the display of the boiler as it should show:
-
Boiler 1
– Master Icon.
-
Boiler 2
– Slave Icon.
-
Boiler 3
– Slave Icon.
If this does not occur or either a F70 / F71 fault code is displayed, then the above wiring must be checked.
See chapter 9.6.5, this shows an example of a three boiler cascade installation.
