5.1
Laser Diode Driver Messages
The following warning messages are related to the Laser Diode
Driver section of the LDC500.
5.1.1
Interlock

Pin 1 and Pin 2 on the DB–9 laser connector must be electrically
connected to each other for the laser current source to operate. Check
the cable or jumper to see if the connection is open.
5.1.2
Transitions with high photodiode current

In CC mode, if the photodiode current is greater than the limit, PD
Ilim, then transitions from CC to CP mode are prohibited. To allow
live transitions from CC to CP mode, either reduce the laser operating
current or increase the PD Ilim value.

Transitions with limited laser current

In CP mode, if the laser current is limited by the LD Ilim setting, then
transitions from CP to CC mode are prohibited. To allow live transi-
tions from CP to CC mode, either reduce the photodiode operating
setpoint or increase the LD Ilim value.

Transitions locked out

Transitions between CC and CP modes can be explicitly locked out
during laser operation by setting the CC

CP lock mode to “yes”. To
change modes, either change the lock mode to “no” or turn o

the
laser output. See section 3.2.3.8.
