Troubleshooting
6-1. Procedure Before and After Repair
Operation before repair if possible
1. Prepare a reference for the replacement of a thermal head.

Print a test pattern (16STEP). (Refer to Section 2-2-2.)
.
Display the voltage of a thermal head in System Info and record it. (Refer to Section 5-3-3.)
2. Compare the failure situation of a market with the contents of error history. (Refer to Section 5-3-4.)
3. Save the information on the board for board replacement.

Save system setting and error records using an Export CSV function. (Refer to Section 5-3-5.)

Save the setting information on the MA-140 board using an Export Binary function.
(Refer to Section 2-5-1.)
Con fi rmation after repair
.
Turn on the power with the print media set. Mechanical operation is terminated and a start screen
appears normally.

The fi rmware version on the System Info screen is updated normally. (Refer to Section 5-3-3.)
.
Print a test pattern (16STEP). No problem occurs in picture quality, and the density is equal to the print
result before repair. (Refer to Section 2-2-2.)

Connect this unit with PC. Con fi rm that data is printed. (A printer driver is required to con fi rm the
connection with PC.)
6-2. Upgrading of Firmware and Download of Printer Driver
Upgrading of fi rmware
The module below is provided when updating the fi rmware of this unit.

It takes about one minute to upgrade fi rmware. Be sure to keep the power during upgrading because PC
restarts after upgrading is completed. This unit will fail to recover and the replacement of the MA-140
board will be required if the power is turned off halfway.
