When the white streaks appears in print, it may be caused by adhesion of dust or others. Perform the
cleaning of the thermal head before replacement. (Refer to Sections 1-10 and 2-2-1.)

After replacing the thermal head, the adjustment is required. (Refer to Section 2-2.)
Before replacing the thermal head, be sure to output the test pattern (16STEP) to be used as the refer-
ence. For details, refer to “Operation during Replacement of Parts” in Section 2-1, and Section 2-2.

After removing the thermal head, make sure that the center shim is attached. When it is attached on the
heat sink, remove it from the heat sink.

When installing the fl exible fl at cable, take care not to bend it.
Removal
1. Remove the cabinet. (Refer to Section 1-4.)
2. Remove the PSW cover and power supply mounting bracket.
(Refer to steps 4 and 7 in Section 1-6-1.)

Do not disconnect the harness to print during assembling.
3. Remove the top chassis assembly. (Refer to step 4 in Section 1-6-9.)
4. Disconnect the harness and fl exible fl at cable from the
connector on the thermal head.
5. Remove the two screws (PSW3
x
12), then remove the
thermal head.
6. Remove the center shim from the thermal head.

Keep the center shim so as not to lost.
