Using the Event Log To Identify Problem Sources

The
log status line
at the bottom of the display identifies where in the
sequence of event messages the display is currently positioned.
To display various portions of the Event Log, either preceding or following the
currently visible portion, use either the actions listed at the bottom of the
display (
Next page
,
Prev page
, or
End
), or the keys described in the following
table:

Using the CLI, you can list

Events recorded since the last boot of the switch
■
All events recorded
■
Event entries containing a specific keyword, either since the last boot or
all events recorded
Syntax:
show logging [-a] [<search-text>]
SMC6624M> show logging
Lists recorded log messages since
last reboot.
SMC6624M> show logging -a
Lists all recorded log messages.
SMC6624M> show logging -a system
Lists all log messages having
“system” in the text or module
name.
SMC6624M> show logging system
Lists all log messages since the
last reboot that have “system” in
the text or module name.
