RCG (Reverberation Controlled Gain)
The RCG function is individual for each of the 32 receiving beams.
Signals with small variations, like propeller noise, surface and
bottom reverberation will be eliminated, while signals with fast
variations, like target echoes or bottom echoes will not be
removed.
RCG........:
OFF
WEAK
*MEDIUM
STRONG
As shown in the menu the RCG function has four different
settings. It is difficult to tell which is the best for extreme varying
sonar conditions, but with experience and by repeated usage one
will discover the best setting for any given situation.
The normal gain setting when RCG is OFF is 0-3. The optimal
gain setting when using RCG is normally gain 6.
Note that scattered fish can be perceived as reverberation, so
therefore the RCG should be used with care if scattered schools
are to be detected.
