4 START AND STOP PROCEDURES
4.1
Start procedure
Note !
Before starting up the sonar, check that the depth of water below the
vessel is sufficient, and that the vessel’s speed is below 15 knots, which
is the maximum speed specified with the transducer lowered.
The numbers in brackets refer to figure 2.
1
Switch on the sonar by pressing the ON-OFF/HOIST
button (2) for approx. two seconds. The button lights green
to indicate that the transducer is in the upper position.
2
Set the display contrast and brightness according to
ambient light.
3
Press the LOWER button (2) until the selected transducer
position on the upper line in the menu field shows
SELECTED POS: LOWER. During the lowering, the text
will change to LOWERING TO: LOWER. When the
transducer is fully lowered, the text will change to
TRANSD.POS: LOWER. the orange LOWER button will
also light, to indicate that the transducer is fully lowered.
4
If the sonar is connected to a course gyro with stepper or
synchro output, the menu on the display will now blink
with the text: ADJUST COURSE, to remind you to adjust
the course readout on the sonar to correspond with the
course gyro. Adjust the course by means of the menu
joystick (6) and enter the value by pushing the menu
joystick to the right.
This completes the start procedure.
4.2
Stop procedure
1
Press the ON-OFF/HOIST button (2) until the selected
transducer position on the upper line in the menu field
shows SELECTED POS: UPPER. During the hoisting the
text will change to HOISTING TO: UPPER. When the
transducer is fully hoisted, the text will change to
TRANSD.POS: UPPER. the green ON-OFF/HOIST button
will also light, to indicate that the transducer is fully
hoisted.
2
Switch off the sonar by pressing the ON-OFF/HOIST
button (2) for approx. two seconds.
WARNING !
If the Sonar Control Unit is switched OFF due to, for
example, power failure, with the Hull Unit lowered, the
Hull Unit must be raised by using the hoisting/lowering
switch in the motor control unit, or by the hand crank
(refer to section “Maintenance”).
