Combi Hammer Drill 24V

236096

•  Batteries can become faulty over time, individual cells in the battery

can fail and the battery could short. The charger will not charge such

batteries. Use the other battery to check correct functionality of the

charger and purchase a replacement battery

•  The capacity of batteries will reduce over time. After 100 charge cycles

the length of time the battery will operate the tool and the maximum

torque performance of the drill will slightly reduce. This decline will

continue until the battery has minimal capacity after 500 charge cycles.

This is normal and not a fault with the battery pack

Installing a charged battery

1.  To fit a charged Battery (5) to the drill, slide it in to the housing at the

base of the main grip handle

Note:

The Battery will fit only in one direction, which is determined by its

shape and the design of the battery housing. However, if the Battery does

not slide into the housing easily, don’t force it. Instead, pull the Battery out

of the housing again, check for correct position, and try again gently.

2.  Push the Battery into the handle until it locks into place securely

Operation

WARNING:

Never fit any attachment to the chuck with a maximum speed

lower than the no load speed of the drill.

Fitting a drill bit

•  Open the Chuck (1) jaws by rotating the chuck anti-clockwise while

holding the base of the Chuck. The Chuck jaws should be facing you

•  The drill bit can then be placed into the Chuck centrally
•  Tighten the Chuck jaws by rotating the Chuck clockwise
•  Do not run the drill whilst tightening or releasing the Chuck
•  When the drill bit is held tightly, test that it is central by running the

drill. The drill bit should rotate smoothly with no ‘wobble’. If the drill bit

is not central, release the Chuck, centre the position of the drill bit and

re-tighten

Direction control

•  The direction of rotation can be set using the Forward/Reverse Switch (4)
•  With the drill in normal operating position press the Forward/Reverse

Switch to the right for the Chuck (1) to rotate anti-clockwise and move

the Forward/Reverse Switch to your left for clockwise rotation

•  When the Forward/Reverse Switch is in the central position, the drill is

locked

IMPORTANT:

Do not attempt to move the Forward/Reverse Switch when

the drill is running

Torque control and mode selection

•  This drill is fitted with a Torque Selector (3). This controls the torque

output of the drill, enabling screws to be driven without the risk of

damage to the screw head or workpiece if set correctly. There are 16

settings torque settings and a drill mode.

•  The higher the torque setting chosen the higher the amount of torque

available. Select the correct setting for the screw size you are driving.

Over time you will get to know the required setting for the type and size

of screw

•  The clutch settings are indicated by the symbols on the clutch ring
•  Rotate the Torque Selector ring to select the correct torque
•  For drill mode, rotate the Torque Selector to the drill symbol. This will lock

the clutch out for maximum torque

Hammer Mode Selection

•  For hammer mode rotate the Hammer Mode Selector (2) to the hammer

symbol, only use this feature in combination with drill mode

•  After use rotate the Hammer Mode Selector to the drill symbol so the

hammer function is disengaged

IMPORTANT:

If the drill is left in hammer mode after use it could cause

injury or damage accessories or the workpiece if used by mistake. Always

switch off hammer mode after use

Switching on

•  To start the drill, squeeze the Trigger (7)
•  The speed of the drill is controlled by the movement of the Trigger. The

further the Trigger is pressed down, the faster the drill will run

Screwdriver use

Note:

Use a universal bit holder when working with screwdriver bits. Only

mount screwdriver bits directly into the chuck if it is essential to access a

screw head. Use a bit holder at all other times.
•  When driving screws NEVER use the machine in drill mode. This will

protect the motor by causing the clutch to slip rather than the motor to

stall when the screw is fully inserted in the workpiece and cannot rotate

any further

•  Always adjust the drill to the appropriate torque setting (see “Torque

control and mode selection”)

Note:

If in doubt about which torque setting best suits the application, start

with a low setting and increase, should more torque be required (e.g. if the

screw is not being driven far enough into the workpiece).

Drilling wood

•  Select drill mode on the Torque Selector (3)
•  Ensure that drill bits are suitable for wood, and are within the maximum

capacity of this machine (see “Specifications”)

WARNING:

DO NOT inhale wood dust. Wear adequate breathing protection.

Some wood dusts may be toxic.

Drilling metal

•  Select drill mode on the Torque Selector (3)
•  Ensure that drill bits are suitable for the grade of metal being drilled, and

are within the maximum capacity of the machine (see “Specifications”)

•  To ensure accuracy, mark the intended hole position using a hammer

and centre punch

WARNING:

Never switch the machine to hammer mode when drilling metal.

WARNING:

The drill bit and the workpiece will become very hot when

drilling metal. DO NOT touch the bit and never allow it to come into contact

with combustible materials when hot.
•  Always use a suitable lubricant or cutting fluid, and drill at appropriate

speeds.

•  Only apply moderate pressure to the drill bit, ensuring efficient cutting

and prolonged drill bit life

•  Use a countersink bit to remove sharp burrs from the hole, preventing

cuts and other kinds of injury

Drilling masonry and concrete

•  Hammer drill mode should be used for drilling into masonry and concrete
•  Apply moderate pressure to the rear of the drill, in line with the drill bit
•  Use masonry drill bits only. Ensure that the bit size is within the

maximum capacity of the machine (see “Specifications”)

•  Do not apply too much pressure. If debris blocks the drill hole, run the

drill slowly and remove the bit from the hole. Repeat until hole is cleared

•  For efficient drilling, it is advisable to use TCT (tungsten carbide tipped)

drill bits

WARNING:

The drill bit, especially the tip, will become very hot when

drilling masonry and concrete. DO NOT touch the bit and never allow it to

come into contact with combustible materials.

WARNING:

DO NOT inhale masonry dust. Wear adequate breathing

protection. Dust from masonry, concrete and similar materials may be

harmful.
