6.3 Logging radio detectors on to the radio gateway
Radio detectors can log on to a radio gateway which has just started up or also be
added to the existing configuration of a radio cell.
In each case, the button in the radio gateway has to be pressed briefly to either
change from the exited 'Scan mode for the basic channel' or from normal operation
to configuration operation.
The RadioSpy can be used to assist with configuration.
The Reed contact can be activated instead of pressing the button.
Procedure:
w
FDnet detector line is switched off.
w
Radio gateway is in configuration operation.
– green/red LEDs flash quickly in turn.
w
Number of radio detectors logged on to radio gateway <30.
w
Radio detector is in its delivery status.
If the radio detector is not in its delivery status, first do this as described in the
'Resetting DOW1171 to delivery status' or 'Resetting SMF6120 to delivery status'
chapters.
1. Insert batteries into the radio detector. Press the alarm button on the SMF6120
too.
2. Screw the radio smoke detector DOW1171 into the base and the manual call
point SMF121 into the radio base SMF6120.
3. Press the reset slider for the alarm button on the manual call point.
a
The radio detector is automatically logged on to the radio gateway.
a
Successful log-on: Green LED on radio gateway flashes quickly for
5 seconds
a
Unsuccessful log-on: rapid continuous flashing of red LED on radio
gateway
a
The radio gateway automatically returns to configuration operation.
a
Green/red LEDs flash quickly in turn.
a
Once the radio detector has logged on to the radio gateway, the radio
detector's status indicator (LED) displays the field strength for two minutes as
follows:
Flashing cycle / s (second)
Field strength
4x/s
High
3x/s
Medium
2x/s
Low
1x/s
Very low
Note the serial number or log-on sequence and location of the radio detector.
Only the field strengths which are displayed with the 3x/s or 4x/s flashing cycle are
acceptable link qualities for the radio gateway.
