Manual IP address and subnet mask allocation
1.
Open the unit’s home page.
See Section 7.4 Accessing the unit’s home page.

Network settings
in the
Configuration
menu.

IP address:
Only one IP address may be assigned per unit.
We recommend using the ranges 192.168.x.x and 10.x.x.x when setting up new networks that do not
use the official Internet address space.
If the device is to be connected directly to the Internet, you must use an officially registered IP
address. This will be given to you by your ISP.

Subnet mask:
The subnet mask tells the device which other IP addresses in the connected network (subnet) can be
addressed directly and which addresses have to be accessed through the gateway. To indicate this,
the target IP address is logically linked to the network mask by an AND expression and the result
compared to the logical AND link between the device's own IP address and the network mask. If these
match, the target device is located in the same network segment. Many networks use 255.255.255.0
as the value for the network mask.
For example:
If you set the device IP address to, for example, 192.168.100.3 and the subnet
mask to 255.255.255.0, the device can be accessed by a client PC with IP address
192.168.100.162 (and subnet mask 255.255.255.0). The IP address of the client
PC and that of the device are both located in the same network segment.
