Intended use
The RFU63x and RFU65x read/write devices are intelligent 4Dpro sensors from the
SICK RFU6xx (UHF) product family. Version (working range): Long Range.
These devices are used for the automated, fixed identification of wireless-based data
cards (transponders) on moving or stationary objects and for the management of these
data cards. The RFU63
0
and RFU65
0
base models process all standard passive
transponders in accordance with EPCglobal UHF C1G2 and ISO/IEC 18000-6C in the
regional UHF carrier frequency range.
Thanks to their intelligent process logic, the devices can be used either as a stand-
alone solution or as part of a group in a CAN network. In read mode, the devices trans‐
mit the results via a host interface to a higher-level computer (e.g. PLC) for further cen‐
tralized processing.
RFU63x
•
The compact RFU63x-131xx device includes an internal antenna that is integrated
into the housing.
•
The RFU63x-041xx device variant does not include an internal antenna. At least
one external antenna needs to be connected.
•
Where complex identification tasks need to be performed, it is possible to connect
external antennas to the device:
°
a maximum of 3 antennas on the RFU63x-131xx
°
a maximum of 4 antennas on the RFU63x-041xx
RFU65x
•
The compact RFU65x-101xx device includes an internal antenna that is integrated
into the housing. Besides detection, the antenna can also recognize the passage
and direction of moving transponders.
The devices can be operated within a wide ambient temperature range. For details,
The devices are primarily designed for use in industrial and logistics areas. They meet
the applicable requirements for industrial robustness, interfaces, and data processing.
They can, if necessary, be programmed to implement customer-specific modifications.
NOTE
The USB interface of the device is used in industrial environments only as a service
interface for temporary use (e.g. for configuration, troubleshooting). Permanent use in
real operation of the system as a host interface is not intended.
SICK AG assumes no liability for losses or damage arising from the use of the product,
either directly or indirectly. This applies in particular to use of the product that does not
conform to its intended purpose and is not described in this documentation.
