Detailed fault analysis
Communication errors can occur when transmitting telegrams to the NAV210. The NAV210
then returns an error code which you can evaluate (see “Telegram listing NAV210”,
part no.: 8024593).
Fault
Possible cause
Corrective measure
1
All LEDs are dark and
the scanner head
does not rotate.
•
No supply voltage at the
terminals
▸
Check the supply voltage (see
Section 9.1 “NAV210 data sheet” on
page 50).
▸
Check whether supply cables are fixed
correctly in the connector plug.
▸
Check whether the cables are poled cor-
rectly.
2
No LED lights up.
The scanner head
only rotates briefly.
•
Supply voltage too low
▸
Increase the wire cross-section.
3
SOPAS ET cannot
communicate with
the NAV210.
•
Supply voltage to the
NAV210 not switched on
•
PC not connected to the
NAV210
•
Incorrect interface
selected
•
Another application on
the PC is already
accessing the interface
•
Order when switching on
the NAV210 and the
connected PC not
adhered to
▸
See fault 1, 2, and 3.
▸
Connect the PC to the NAV210 (use the
corresponding data cable depending on
the type of interface).
▸
Select the interface in SOPAS ET in
accordance with the connection made
on the PC.
▸
Check the pin assignment of the inter-
face, end the corresponding application
if necessary.
▸
1. Switch on the PC, 2. connect the PC
with the NAV210, 3. switch on the
NAV210.
4
Measurements in
close range without
objects present.
•
Contaminated or
scratched lens
▸
Carefully clean the lens with a soft,
lint-free cloth.
If the lens is scratched, contact SICK
Service.
5
The NAV210 does not
detect objects that
are present.
•
Smoke and dust
▸
Check whether the scanner head is
clean and dry.
6
The NAV210 does not
transfer any
measurement results.
•
Wiring error in the data
connection.
▸
Check wiring.
7
Frequent CRC errors
via the RS-232
interface.
•
Data transmission time-
critical
▸
Increase the baud rate.
