Safety Information
2.1Autorized users
For the ISD to function correctly and safety, it must be mounted and operated by
sufficiently qualified personnel.
The following qualifications are required for the various tasks involved:

Mounting and maintenance
•
General technical training
•
Knowledge of the standard guidelines relating to safety at the workplace
2.1.2
Electrical installation and replacement
•
Practical training in electrical engineering
•
Knowledge of the standard safety guidelines relating to electrical engineering
•
Experience operating the devices in the relevant application
2.1.3
Startup, operation and configuration
•
Knowledge of the hardware and software environment of the relevant application
•
Basic understanding of data transfer methods
2.2
Intended use
The ISD 230, 260 and 280 systems are used to establish a cordless link for transferring
serial data in full-duplex mode using infrared light.
The link, in this sense, always comprises a pair of devices (2 units) with different carrier
frequencies. Depending on the type of link, the units are either installed at a fixed and
mobile station (variable link) or at two fixed stations (permanent link).
Any warranty claims vis-à-vis SICK AG will be rendered invalid if the device is used for any
other purpose or if changes are made to the device, also as part of the mounting and
electrical installation procedures.

also applies to the warnings provided for the individual activities described in this
document.
