Notes for safe operation
General
Install the frequency inverter outside the potentially explosive atmosphere.
Thermal motor protection
Thermal motor protection is ensured by the following measures:
•
Winding temperature monitoring through PTC thermistors (/TF) built into the wind-
ing. The /TF is monitored via an evaluation unit that complies with Directive
2014/34/EU and is labeled with Ex identification II(2)GD / II(2)G.
•
Motor current monitoring according to the specifications of the EU type examina-
tion certificate.
•
Motor torque limitation according to the specifications of the EU type examination
certificate.
Thermal motor protection
Only motors that are equipped with a PTC thermistor (option /TF) are permitted for
operation on an inverter to ensure that the permitted limit temperature is not ex-
ceeded. This must be evaluated using an appropriate device.
Overvoltage at the motor terminals
When operating the motors on frequency inverters, observe the chapter
"
voltage stress in inverter operation" (→
95).
EMC measures
The following components are permitted for the
MOVIDRIVE
®
and
MOVITRAC
®
in-
verter series:
•
Line filters of the NF...-... series
•
Output chokes of the HD... series
•
Output filter (sine filter) HF..
When using an output filter, take account of the voltage drop via the filter. Observe
the chapter "Special application" (→
114).
