Thermostatic Expansion Valve

Remove front panel.

Remove sound shield (when used)

If the machine was in operation, push and release the Harvest button to shut it down.
Wait until the harvest cycle has ended so the evaporator has no ice on it.

Disconnect electrical power.

Recover refrigerant.

Remove insulation covering expansion valve and bulb.

Remove strap securing bulb to suction line.

Open both discharge and suction access valves

Unsweat the expansion valve from the liquid line. Remove it.

Unsweat the drier from the liquid line. Remove it.

Connect nitrogen to discharge access valve.

Immediately place new valve in ice machine.

Open nitrogen bottle and braze expansion valve inlet and outlet joints together. Braze
new drier into system.

Shut off nitrogen, shut access valves.

Evacuate to at least 300 microns.

Weigh in the nameplate charge. Check for leaks.

Attach bulb to suction line. Position at 4 or 8 o'clock on the tube. Secure tightly but do not
crush the bulb with the strap.

Attach valve and bulb insulation.

Reconnect electrical power.
20
Return sound shield and front panel to their original positions.
