DISCHARGING THE BATTERIES
Your digital camera is designed not to be affected by voltage fluctuations caused by the “memory
effect” of nickel metal hydride batteries. However, there may be times when the remaining charge
indicator for the batteries turns to

ç
or

early. If this happens, discharge the batteries
completely before charging them again.
1
Display the Shooting Option Setting Screen (or
Playback Option Setting Screen) (see page 29).
2
Select “DISCHARGE” and press the SET button.
œ
The Discharge Screen appears.
3
Select “START” and press the SET button.
œ
Battery discharge begins.
œ
The message “DISCHARGING” appears in the display
while the batteries are being discharged.
œ
Leave your digital camera until the power turns off. Once
discharge of the batteries is complete, your digital
camera will turn off.
œ
Place the discharged batteries in the supplied battery
charger and charge them until the recharge indicator
turns off (see page 21).
œ
If you press the MODE button while the batteries are
being discharged, battery discharge stops and you return
to the Shooting Option Setting Screen (or Playback
Option Setting Screen).
NOTE
œ
When discharging the batteries, make sure an AC adapter is not connected to your digital
camera. If an AC adapter is connected, the battery discharge function will not operate.
œ
If an AC adapter is connected to your digital camera, “PLEASE USE BATTERIES” will appear.
Insert the batteries to be discharged.
œ
Batteries cannot be charged by your digital camera. Remove the batteries and charge them in
the battery charger supplied with your digital camera.
