The apps Internet
Access privacy settings
While we are talking about options to alter zooming and the size of
your fonts, the Settings option within Internet also provides another
very useful, even essential, set of preferences (
F ig 5). The P rivacy area
within the Internet app gives you extra safety while you browse.
Tap on the Delete
P ersonal Data option within P rivacy and you’ll
see a full array of choices, which includes clearing the cache and
history of your browser to prevent others seeing what you’ve been
up to
; managing cookies which many websites use to track your
internet footprints ; form data management – ie the personal details
you use to fill in forms ; exposing your location via G P S ; password
management ; even the triggering of web notifications. All these can
be switched on or o ff depending on your preferences.
Tweak your browser
There are many ways you can tweak your browser to best fit your
day-to-day use.
F or example, when you access your browser, you
will open it… well, to what? What screen would you prefer to see
when you open your browser? A search engine?
Y our favourite
music or sports website? Something else? Y ou can set your home

and then tap the button in the top-left
corner of the screen.
2 Search engine A pop-up menu
will list a range of available search
engines. Tap on one to select.
Set a search engine
To preload websites go
to Settings>Bandwidth
management and tap
P reload web pages
1 Highlight To highlight text,
long-press on the area of text
that you are interested in.
Highlight text
2 Markers Drag the markers that
appear to highlight the exact
text you want to manipulate.
3 Share text Tap on Share via icon
on the floating toolbar and then
pick a method to use.
4 Copy Tap the C opy icon beside
Share to copy the text to the
clipboard to paste elsewhere.
