Change the lock screen
The lock screen isn’t j ust a screen that appears when your handset
has timed out ; it can also provide you with some very useful
functions. On the Galaxy S5, you can set it to display lots of di ff erent
kinds of information, including a clock, weather data and a rolling
‘ticker’ of information from sources like
F acebook.
The lock screen can open directly into fi ve di ff erent applications
– what they are is up to you ( F ig 3). This is one of the best shortcuts
you can set up. If you fre q uently pick up your Galaxy device to make
a phone call, check your email, tweet, take a photo and so on, the
chances are that you can put a shortcut to the relevant app on the
lock screen and get there in an instant.
