The ideal navigational and locational companion for

Navigating
with maps
Google’s M aps app is
a mature and effi cient
navigational tool that takes
full advantage of your
Samsung Galaxy’s built-in
G
P S system ( F ig 1). With
G P S, you can plan a wide
number of routes that will
not only be graphically
represented within the
app, but can also be
converted into turn-by-turn
instructions showing you
how to get there.
Find your feet
M aps is an easy-to-use
and effi cient app that
will routinely undertake
a number of location-related tasks, such as devising routes from
A to B and fi nding useful and important locations in your area or
further afi eld. To do this, however, the app
– and by extension your
Samsung Galaxy device – has to be able to know where you are in
the world, which it does by utilising the G P S system that comes as
part of your Galaxy device. When you buy the phone, this feature
will be set to O
ff by default. H ence, you naturally have to turn it on
to get the full use of Google’s M aps facilities.
To get this particular function up and running, go to your home
screen and tap the M enu button, followed by Settings. Scroll down
to the Network C onnections section, where you will notice the
