the machine displays a message asking you to re-
move the smart card.

Remove the smart card from the reader.
Replacing a print unit
The machine is equipped with a consumable
management system. It indicates when a print unit is
nearing the end of its lifespan. The following messages
will appear on your machine:
•
THE PRINT UNIT IS NEARING THE END OF ITS
LIFE X
: the print unit whose colour is identified by X (C
for cyan, M for magenta, Y for yellow and K for black)
has reached critical threshold (less than 10% remain-
ing in the print unit);
•
THE PRINT UNIT IS AT THE END OF ITS LIFE:
REPLACE IT X
: the print unit is empty.
You can replace the print unit between the time it has
reached critical threshold and when it is empty.
If you do not replace it, the machine will not print.
The procedure for replacing the consumable is included
with the new print unit.
Replacing the waste toner bottle
Replace the waste toner bottle when the machine
displays the message
THE WASTE TONER
CONTAINER IS AT THE END OF ITS LIFE: REPLACE
IT
. If you do not replace it or declare its replacement, the
machine will not print. After replacing, you must declare
the replacement of this consumable.

Open the machine front cover.

Turn the waste toner bottle lock to the "Unlocked"
position.

Release the left and right handles of the waste ton-
er bottle.

Gently remove the waste toner bottle by pulling on
the handles.

Unpack the new waste toner bottle. Place the full
bottle in the plastic bag provided, place it in the box
for the new waste toner bottle, and dispose of it in
accordance with local regulations in force.
