Operating the R&S
DVMS in a LAN
The R&S
DVMS is equipped with a network interface and can be connected to an
Ethernet LAN (local area network). The network card operates with 10/100/1000
Base
‑
T Ethernet. The TCP/IP network protocol and the associated network services
are preconfigured.
To be able to exchange data within a local area network (LAN), every computer or
instrument that is connected must have a unique IP address or a unique computer
name. Access between different users is managed with access authorizations.
If the appropriate rights have been assigned and the Windows
7 firewall configuration
is adapted accordingly, you can use the interface for example for:
●
Transferring data
●
Printing on network printers
●
Operating/controlling the R&S
DVMS from a remote computer
To use network resources, access must be granted. To share files on the R&S
DVMS
with other network users, access to instrument resources, e.g. the hard drives, must
also be granted. All these administration tasks are normally performed by a network
administrator using the Windows
7 "Start" menu (for details, see the Windows
7 docu-
mentation). Contact your network administrator for access authorizations.
User name and password of the R&S
DVMS are factory-set. The user name is used for
auto login, access authorization and remote operation.
