Manually Lubricating the Precision Rails
The rails and bearings are an open system that requires continuous lubrication. To avoid
breakdown of the lubrication, the precision rails must have a thin coat of oil across the entire
rail system and the bearings in the vehicles must have a film of oil on them. This coating pro-
vides both lubrication and environmental protection.
To determine if the precision rails require lubrication, run a clean, dry, wipe lightly over dif-
ferent sections of the rail. If little or no oil appears on the wipe, then the rails require lubrica-
tion. If lubricators are not installed on the underside of the vehicles, lubrication can be applied
manually to the rails with a clean towel or wipe.
NOTE:
The frequency of lubrication depends on the rail use and environmental factors.
Required Tools and Equipment
•
Disposable gloves.
•
Microfiber cleaning cloth.
•
68 viscosity EP mineral oil.
Procedure
1.
Stop all motion on the sections of the MagneMover LITE transport system to be lubri-
cated.
2.
Wear gloves and wipe the precision rail with a clean microfiber cloth slightly damp-
ened with mineral oil. Wipe in the direction of the rail.
3.
Make sure that all components are free of any oil puddles.
4.
Resume motion on the sections of the MM LITE transport system that were stopped.
