Cleaning and Disinfecting the Meter
■
Make sure the meter is powered off.
■
Do not spray anything onto the meter and do not
immerse it in liquid.
■
Ensure that cloth or wipe is only damp, not wet.
Remove excess moisture if necessary.
Difference between cleaning
and disinfecting
Cleaning is the physical removal of organic soiling (e.g.,
dirt, or other foreign material) from the meter surface.
Disinfecting is the removal of most, but not all, disease-
causing and other types of microorganisms (blood-borne
pathogens) from the meter.

Observe the disinfection guidelines of your
institution.
■
Protective gloves should always be worn when
cleaning and disinfecting the device.
NOTICE
Follow the procedures below to clean/disinfect the
meter. Failure to follow these procedures may cause
malfunction of the meter.
