Mechanical Dock Leveler Hydraulic Conversion
INSTRUCTIONS FOR STRUT BASE UTILIZING BASE AND
BASE ANGLE (Type III)
Perform the work in this order:
1. Center the Safe-T-Strut base on the angle and align the chamfer on the base with the radius on the front of the
angle. Weld the base securely in place. See Figure 5 for welding details.
2. Locate the strut base within 12" of the centerline of the leveler so that it does not interfere with the board
operation. Before beginning installation, check for potential clearance problems with lip lugs, header bridge bars,
lip stop bolts, etc.
3. Weld angle securely to front pit steel or fasten securely to concrete pit floor with (2) 1/2" x 4" (minimum) concrete
anchors. It may be necessary to remove part of the leveler sub-frame to position the base correctly.

6. Remove and discard existing maintenance strut components.
7. Go to section titled Lip Instructions.
