This script sends an email to either the destination value that you specify as the
second argument on the AIX command line, or to 'johndoe' Internet ID, if you take
the default. The script uses a logical destination (printer) named
email-ld
on your
InfoPrint AIX server. This file uses the
enscript
AIX command to convert the text
file to PostScript, stores that PostScript file in the /
tmp
directory on the submitting
AIX system, and then deletes that file once the
pdpr
command has submitted the
PostScript file to the InfoPrint AIX server.
Note that the convention
us.name.com
is used to indicate a typical Internet address
for a business.
Using the InfoPrint Select client
Once you have successfully installed InfoPrint Select and defined an Email
destination (see the "Using InfoPrint Select to submit a job" chapter in
InfoPrint
Manager for AIX: Getting Started
for more information), you can use the following
procedure to email.
Note:
In order to configure the port for the InfoPrint server email destination on
your client workstation, the email logical destination (in our example,
email-ld
) on
the InfoPrint AIX server must have a value filled in for the
client-driver-names
logical destination attribute. If this value is not filled in, you will not be able to
display printers from the InfoPrint AIX server when you click
Refresh Printers
Selection List
.
You must also set the
destination-support-system
logical destination attribute to
for InfoPrint Select to send emails.
1.
Specify
from the screen menu.
2.
From the
window, make sure that the
Name
field contains the name of
the logical destination that you defined to the InfoPrint AIX server, then click
OK
.
3.
From the
InfoPrint Email
pop-up window, specify the attribute information in
the fields as indicated.
Color Email
If you have color Portable Document Format (PDF) or PostScript files, you can
send these files to target email address through InfoPrint Manager and receive
color output.
Ensure that your color PDF files pass through the Email DSS without being
transformed no matter what method you use to submit the job to the InfoPrint
Manager AIX server. To do this specify job attribute
job-ripped-by-server =
false
. Alternatively, you can set the actual destination to not RIP PDF document
formats. However, that would apply to all PDF jobs submitted.
You do not want to lose the color information contained in color PostScript files.
Note:
Color Email is not supported if your Email job sent to an Actual Destination
contains any of the attributes specified in the lists that follow. If these attributes or
conditions are sent to an Actual Destination, the file will print as black-and-white
(MO:DCA-P) output.
