Consolidated list of warnings and cautions

WARNINGS

1.

INSTALLATION OF THE RETROSCAN SCANNING SYSTEM MUST ONLY
BE UNDERTAKEN BY FULLY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL WHO ARE FULLY
CONVERSANT WITH ALL SAFETY PROCEDURES AND LEGISLATION IN
FORCE IN THE COUNTRY OF USE.

CAUTIONS

1.

OBSERVE ANTI-STATIC PRECAUTIONS AT ALL TIMES. FAILURE TO
ADEQUATELY PROTECT AGAINST STATIC DISCHARGE CAN RESULT IN
DAMAGE TO THE PROBE INTERFACE CARD.

2.

TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE PROBE OCCURRING WHEN TRAVELLING
IN THE Z AXIS IT IS IMPORTANT TO ENSURE THAT, WHEN SELECTING
A SOCKET CAPSCREW OR FIXED LOCATION INTO/AGAINST WHICH
THE PIN ASSEMBLY CAN BE LOCATED, THE CHOSEN LOCATION WILL
TRAVEL IN THE Z  DIRECTION WITH THE SPINDLE.

3.

THE PROBE INTERFACE CARD IS SUBJECT TO DAMAGE BY STATIC
DISCHARGE. IT IS THEREFORE RECOMMENDED THAT THE USE OF AN
ANTI-STATIC WRISTBAND, CONNECTED TO A SUITABLE EARTH POINT,
IS EMPLOYED WHENEVER THE CARD IS HANDLED. MOVEMENT,
WHICH CAN GENERATE STATIC ELECTRICITY, SHOULD ALSO BE KEPT
TO A MINIMUM.

4.

THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS ARE OF A GENERAL NATURE. FOR
SPECIFIC INFORMATION/INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE PROBE
INTERFACE CARD MUST BE INSTALLED INTO YOUR PERSONAL
COMPUTER (PC), REFER TO THE USER/TECHNICAL REFERENCE
MANUAL SUPPLIED WITH YOUR PC.

5.

WHEN ROUTING THE PROBE CABLE ASSEMBLY FROM YOUR SP2-1
PROBE TO YOUR PC, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE CABLE IS KEPT WELL
AWAY FROM MOVING PARTS WHICH MAY SNAG, ENTANGLE, TRAP OR
SEVER IT WHEN THE MACHINE TOOL IS IN MOTION. IT IS ALSO VERY
IMPORTANT THAT SUFFICIENT ‘SLACK’ IS PROVIDED TO ALLOW THE
MACHINE TOOL TO MOVE WITHIN ITS ENTIRE OPERATING ENVELOPE
WITHOUT CAUSING ANY STRAINING OF THE CABLE.
