Surge Protection
The tower grounding system disperses most of the surge energy from a tower strike
away from the building and equipment. The remaining energy induced on the Ethernet
cable can be directed safely to ground by using a surge arrestor in series with the
Ethernet cable at the point of entry to the building.
1.
A surge protection device should be installed in series with the Ethernet cable at the
point of entry to the building. The surge protection ground terminal should be
connected to the building master ground bus.
2.
The AC wall outlet ground for the indoor POE adapter should be connected to the
building master ground bus.
