SECTION 9A: PROGRAMMING WITH THE HAND HELD
COMMUNICATOR
9A. General Guidelines & Menu Tree
The Datamate 2200 is programmed and configured using either the NexLink software
package (included with the unit), via the keypad on the transmitter enclosure, or by using
a hand held communicator using HART protocol.
NexLink
The NexLink software program is a Windows-based application that allows the user
to program and view data through an easy to use point-and-click user interface. This
application uses MODBUS protocol.
Integral Keypad
The ENTER key sends the Datamate 2200 into the displayed menu, locks in data choices
made with the ^ and > keys, and confirms the selections, unless otherwise noted.
The CANCEL key sends the Datamate 2200 into the next higher menus level, unless
otherwise noted. Pressing ENTER when Exit is the menu choice sends the Datamate
2200 to the next higher menu level, unless otherwise noted.
Hand Held Communicator
The Datamate 2200 may also be programmed using HART protocol via a Hand Held
Communicator. The menus for using the HHC are nearly identical to those used on the
integral Datamate 2200 display. Navigation through the HART menu is accomplished by
using the standard keystrokes as described in the instructions accompanying the HHC
and used with any HART device.
Hand Held Communicator Menu Navigation
• Menu selections are made by either pressing the corresponding number on the
numeric keypad or by using the

• When there are more menu options than can be displayed on a single screen,
additional options can be displayed by using the

• At various points in the menu structure, the four function keys will be activated to
perform certain functions.
• F1 HELP

• F2 SAVE SEND
• F3 HOME ABORT
• F4 SEND

• After programming or configuration data has been edited on the HHC, the SEND (F2)
