Chapter 4: Maintenance & Troubleshooting
4.1 Introduction
This chapter provides information to enable you to identify problems, maintain your
ST70+ system and obtain product support.
Raymarine products are designed to provide many years of trouble-free operation.
They are also subjected to comprehensive testing and quality assurance procedures
before shipping.
However, if a problem occurs with your ST70+ system, use the troubleshooting
information in this chapter to help identify the problem and provide a solution. If you
cannot resolve the problem yourself, refer to the
Product support
information near the
end of this chapter.
Servicing & safety
Unless specific instructions are given to the contrary, Raymarine equipment should
be serviced only by authorized Raymarine service technicians. They will ensure that
service procedures and replacement parts used will not affect performance.
Some products generate high voltages, so never handle the cables/connectors when
power is being supplied to the equipment.
EMC
When powered up, all electrical equipment produces electromagnetic fields. These
can cause nearby electrical equipment to interact, with a possible adverse effect on
operation. To minimize these effects and enable best possible performance from your
Raymarine equipment, guidelines are given in the installation instructions.
Always report any EMC-related problem to your nearest Raymarine dealer. We use
such information to improve our quality standards.
In some installations, it may not be possible to prevent the equipment from being
affected by external influences. In general this will not damage the equipment but it
can lead to spurious resetting action, or momentarily may result in faulty operation.
4.2 Maintenance
As the ST70+ displays and keypads are sealed units and do NOT contain any user-
serviceable parts, user maintenance is limited to the following routine tasks:
•
Periodic cleaning of ST70+ products in accordance with the
Cleaning
procedures
below.
•
Ensuring all cable connectors are securely connected.
•
Examining the products and cables for signs of wear or damage, and replacement
of damaged components.
If you attempt to dismantle any product, you will invalidate the warranty.
