Using
the
GSU
12.1
What
is
it
for
The
GPS
‐
based
synchronization
unit
(GSU)
is
designed
to
handle
inter
‐
site
interferences
under
large
‐
scale
deployment
scenarios.
The
GSU
is
an
outdoor
unit
consisting
of
a
small
size
enclosure,
a
GPS
antenna
and
a
PoE
device.
It
may
be
operated
through
an
HSS
unit
or
over
Ethernet.
For
use
over
Ethernet,
the
GSU
requires
Layer
2
connectivity
to
the
multiple
Hub
‐
Sites
that
it
is
required
to
synchronize.
It
synchronizes
the
transmission
timing
of
these
Hub
‐
Sites
to
the
same
clock
source
thus
eliminating
mutual
interference.
Typically,
an
IDU
‐
H
is
used.
