User Manual 3162A/B
Using The Instrument 3-41
Use the following command to control the PM input:
PM {OFF | ON}
ON activates the PM input and OFF is the default.
The query:
PM?
queries the PM input state and returns “1” (ON) or “0” (OFF).
Inter-Channel Phase
Control
The Model 3162B has two output channels. These two outputs generate
waveforms that have a common clock and waveform start mechanism.
Common clock reference allows tight control over the phase relationship
between the two channels. Besides an unavoidable initial skew between the
channels (<1 ns typically), you can program any phase offset between the two
channels.
The command:
PHASe:OFFSet <value>
Controls the phase offset between the two main outputs. Offset is applied to
the B channel in reference to the rising edge of the A channel. Phase offset
between the two channels can be programmed from 0
E
to 360
E
. The default
value is 0
E
.
The query:
PHASe:OFFSet?
queries the phase offset value.
Amplitude
Modulation
Commands
The AM input is used for modulating the amplitude at the main output
connector. The carrier signal is any continuous waveform which was
programmed for the output. The envelope signal is supplied from an external
source to the AM input.
The command:
AM {OFF | ON}
controls the AM input where ON enables AM and OFF is the default.
The query:
AM?
queries the AM input state and returns “1” (ON) or “0” (OFF).
