A–Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting with a Diagnostic Port (D_Port)
103
BK3254601-00 C
When a switch port is enabled as a D_Port, the QLogic 2700 Series Adapter
automatically runs the basic diagnostic test at both ends of the link. The Brocade
switch then runs the following additional tests:
Electric loopback test
Optical loopback test
QLogic recommends running D_Port tests on multipath configured boot from
SAN/fabric-assigned boot LUN. Running D_Port tests on single path boot from
SAN/fabric-assigned boot LUN may cause issues with OS stability in true boot
from SAN environments.
The following sections describe how to configure and run D_Port mode from the
Brocade Fibre Channel 16 switch, and how to verify D_Port mode from the
QConvergeConsole utilities:
Configuring D_Port on a Brocade Fibre Channel 16G or 32G Switch
Checking D_Port Results from a Brocade Fibre Channel 16G or 32G Switch
Verifying D_Port Mode with QConvergeConsole GUI
Verifying D_Port Mode with Interactive QConvergeConsole CLI
Verifying D_Port Mode with Noninteractive QConvergeConsole CLI
Verifying D_Port Mode with QConvergeConsole Plug-ins
Configuring D_Port on a Brocade Fibre Channel 16G or 32G
Switch
To enable D_Port diagnostic mode:
From the Brocade Fibre Channel 16G or 32G switch, issue the following
commands:
#
portdisable <port#>
#
portcfgdport ––enable
<port#>
#
portenable
<port#>
The D_Port test starts automatically.
NOTE
All QLogic-branded 32Gbps SFP+ transceivers support the functionality
required to run D_Port tests. If you have a supported non-QLogic branded
transceiver, ensure that it supports the optical wrap (OWrap) and electrical
wrap (EWrap) capability that is required for D_Port.
