4.7 Audio signals
As with the video signals, it is necessary to feed, for each audio level, the PGM and PST
inputs of the audio mixer from two router outputs. For systems using embedded audio, these
router destinations are taken from the video router. Two further router outputs, AUX1 and
AUX2, should be connected into the mixer enabling the Aux busses to be monitored not only
by the control panel metering, but also from the audio monitor outputs.
The TX 500 provides up to four audio over sources, which can be configured to be fed either
from a single router output, permitting selection of four router sources, or from four dedicated
audio over inputs on the rear of the mixer.

The audio connections shown above are all AES digital audio and external converters are
required to support any other format.
The choice between a Routable and Fixed audio over system is configured through the TX
plasma display configuration menu. The routable over and over 1 inputs are actually the
same input, and consequently in a routable over configuration, over inputs 2 to 4 are not
used. The advantage of using a routable over configuration is that if any format conversion is
required, only one converter is necessary, instead of four. See Section 8.6 for configuration
details.
4.7.1 Balanced AES
All balanced AES audio inputs are available on a fixed 25 way D type socket. It must be
noted that the main audio PGM output is also on the same D type, as follows:
