Main Elements of a PV System: “STRINGS and ARRAYS”
The so-called “string” technology has been developed in order to reduce the
installation costs of a photovoltaic system as much as possible. These costs are mainly
related to the wiring operations on the Dc side of the inverter and the consequent
distribution on the Ac side.
A photovoltaic PANEL is composed of many photovoltaic cells assembled on the
same mount. A STRING is composed of a certain number of panels electrically
connected in series. An ARRAY is composed of one or more strings connected in
parallel.
Larger photovoltaic systems can be composed of a certain number of arrays, connected
to one or more AURORA inverters. By maximizing the number of panels in series per
string, the cost and complexity of the system wiring can be reduced.

Array voltage value shall be within an acceptable range for the inverter. Please refer to
the technical data for the AURORA for details on the Dc operating voltage range.
