Frequency Asking Questions
Q: Why the system could not work with Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor?
A:
First of all, check the Jumper Setting of JP1, and then short the jumper JP1 to
enable the Mobile Pentium 4 processor Support. After changing the CPU, please
clear the CMOS setting by the “JP3” jumper to reset the BIOS setting for CPU
detection. (Figure 5-8)
Figure 5-8
To short this jumper setting is required for both Mobile Intel® Celeron® M
Processor, and Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor. Please check and make sure
this jumper setting in advance. On the contrary, leave the jumper “JP1” open for
using the Intel Pentium 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading Technology, and Intel
Pentium 4/ Celeron Processor.
Q: What is Serial ATA and how to use it exactly?
A
: The Intel
®
6300ESB ICH5 HR contains two integrated Serial ATA host controllers
capable of DMA operation on two ports. Unlike IDE bus, each Serial ATA channel
can only connect to one SATA hard disk at a time; there are total two connectors,
J23 and J24. The installation of Serial ATA is simpler and easier than IDE, because
SATA hard disk doesn’t require setting up Master and Slave, which can reduce
mistake of hardware installation. All you need to do is to plug in two cables and
enable SATA in System BIOS. (The Serial ATA hard disk of installation, please see
figure 5-9 as below)
