3 First Steps

Cabling
In the following you will find a description of all the steps necessary to cable
the instrument. All the cabling connections are also shown in
3.15. Secure the connections appropriately.
Should any cabling problems occur, contact your local Polytec representative.
CAUTION!
Damage of the instruments caused by short-circuit !
Always connect all components to
each other before plugging in the mains cables !
CAUTION!
Damage to connections caused by bent contact pins !
All connections must be easy to
plug in. If not, do not use any force to plug them in, but replace the defective connections
with new connections. Please contact your local Polytec representative.
NOTE!
The main cable (umbilical) has a plug with a fixed (straight) cable connection and a
connector with a rotatable (slightly angled) cable connection. We recommend connecting the
rotatable connector to the scanning head. Thus, you avoid bending or twisting the cable
when moving the scanning head.

Connecting the Hardware
Front-end to PC
1. Plug the yellow network cable into the CONTROL network connection on
the back of the front-end and into the CONTROL network connection on
the back of the PC.
2. Plug the blue network cable into the VIDEO network connection on the
back of the front-end and into the VIDEO network connection on the back
of the PC.

3. Plug the main cable (Umbilical) into the SCANNING SYSTEM industrial-
style connection on the back of the front-end and secure the connection
by turning the locking spindle clockwise beyond the resistance.
4. Plug the main cable (Umbilical) into the industrial-style connection on the
back of the scanning head and secure the connection by turning the
locking spindle clockwise beyond the resistance.
Front-end to
junction box
5. Connect the BNC plug AI_0 of the ACQ HM acquisition cable to the
VIB TOP BNC jack on the back of the front-end.
