3 First Steps

Connecting the Hardware
Peripheral
devices
1. Plug the USB receiver for wireless keyboard and wireless mouse into the
built-in USB hub on the TFT monitor.
2. Plug the USB cable into the built-in USB hub on the TFT monitor and into
a free USB connection on the back of the industrial PC.
3. Plug the monitor cable into the DisplayPort jack on the TFT monitor and
into the
DP3
Mini DisplayPort jack on the back of the industrial PC.
4. Switch on the wireless keyboard and wireless mouse.
5. Plug the hardlock (dongle) for your Polytec software into a free USB
connection on the back of the industrial PC.
Objective
Positioner (with
MSA-A-TMS
option)
6. Secure the connector plug of the connection cable of the objective
positioner on the back of the sensor head with the existing mounting
options.
7. Plug the
TMS Cable
into the
OBJECTIVE POSITIONER
sub-D plug-in
connector on the back of the controller and into the fixed connecting plug
of the objective positioner on the back of the sensor head.
Sensor head to
front-end
8. Plug the
System Cable
into the
SYSTEM
Sub-D jack on the back of the
sensor head and into the
SYSTEM
Sub-D jack on the back of the front-
end.
9. Plug the
BC Cable
into the
BC
SMA jack on the back of the sensor head
and into the
BC
SMA jack on the back of the front-end. Use the supplied
torque wrench for the SMA connections.

industrial PC
10. Plug the blue network cable into the
VIDEO
network connection marked
blue on the back of the sensor head and into the
VIDEO
network
connection marked blue on the back of the industrial PC.
11. Plug the
Detector Cable
into the
RF OUT
SMA jack on the back of the
sensor head and into the
A
SMA jack on the back of the industrial PC. Use
the supplied torque wrench for the SMA connections.

12. Plug the
Scanner Cable
into the
SCANNER
Sub-D jack on the back of the
sensor head and into the
SCANNER
Sub-D jack on the back of the
controller.
13. With MSA-A-DIF option: Plug the second
Scanner Cable
into the
REF
SCANNER
Sub-D jack on the back of the sensor head and into the
REF
SCANNER
Sub-D jack on the back of the controller.
Front-end to
industrial PC
14. Plug the yellow network cable into the
CONTROL
network connection
marked yellow on the back of the front-end and into the
CONTROL
network
connection marked yellow on the back of the industrial PC.
