Figure 4-55. Disassembly of rear of Lens barrel, 127MM lens
The 127mm lens for the model 600SE is very similar to the 127mm lens for the model 600
(Figures 4-54 and 4-55. Note the differences in the depth of field scale ring.
With the lens barrels removed from the camera and the shutter and front end removed from the
lens barrel, you can remove screws and parts from both ends down to the helicoid assembly. Do
not twist or force parts out of the barrel. It is easy to disassemble the helicoid assembly by an
unfortunate twist of the lens barrel. A damaged (disassembled) helicoid assembly should not be
repaired. It must be replaced, and it may be necessary to replace the lens barrel.
Access to the range coupling key assembly may be required to replace the spring or to lubricate
the slide plate with Molycote or Lubriplate. Remove four screws and lift out the light baffle No. 3.
Remove three screws and lift the depth of field scale ring off the helicoid assembly ( Figure 4-55).
The spring can be removed without loosening the shoulder screws or the plate screw. Lift one leg
of the spring off the shoulder screw. Hold spring, and lift off other leg. Unhook spring loop off
plate screw.
Slip the rubber grip off the focusing ring. Turn the focusing ring to infinity. Note the lineup of the
infinity mark to the helicoid assembly. Soak in trichloroethylene and loosen the three tiny slotted
set screws that were hidden by the rubber grip. Remove the four screws holding the shutter cover
to the helicoid assembly. Remove the three screws from the helicoid cover. Remove the two
screws holding the plate and washer to the helicoid assembly and the coupling key.
